Stock Jeeps have a slip yoke style output shaft at the rear driveline. This design is not conducive to off road use nor the steeper operating angles caused by suspension lifts. To ensure smooth and durable driveline operation, convert to a fixed yoke output and install a CV drive shaft (style RE1898). A must on all lifts over 3.5 inch. This kit requires the modification of your stock output shaft. Drill and tap included for easy installation. Drive flange is machined from solid Stainless Steel for extreme strength and corrosion resistance.
Nice product. After install no vibration, really smooth drive. I also installed new Rubicon express drive shaft.
Use a grinder and cutting wheel to cut off the shaft. mark with tape, start engine, place transmission in low and let idle. Shaft is easy to cut but lots of sparks
Q: What drive shaft do I need to make this slip yoke eliminator work with my 1998 Jeep ZJ 5.9? Answer this question
A: The length of the driveshaft will depend upon the lift that was installed. Once the lift kit is installed with the 231 SYE, the vehicle will need to be sitting on the ground and you will need to measure from u-joint to u-joint to get the correct length needed.

Q: I have the older style np231 with the coned output shaft housing. Does this product come with a new seal flange and output seal that will replace the old cone housing. TY Answer this question
A: Hi Maarvin This is what is referred to as the hack and tap style SYE kit. It does not replace the seal housing you merely cut the factory output shaft in front of the seal, drill and tap the shaft and install the flange yoke. if you need to replace the seal housing you may wish to look at the RUG18676.60 http://jo.my/2mmn5r Thank You

Q: Also is this the full kit for $119 ? The picture looks deceiving? If so can I have this sent to the new red deer shop so I can purchase it when I get home from work? Answer this question
A: Hi Jeff This is a complete kit but this is what is referred to as the hack and tap kit where you cut the out put shaft of your NP231 transfer case then drill and tap it for a bolt to hold the flange on. This is not a main shaft replacement kit. Thank You
