    2.0 Mostly Good, Obviously Poor Quality Leg Couplers

    The mounting system worked well on my non-off-the-shelf rack engineered for my truck, and I suspect it would work well lots of places. It rolls and unrolls great, and folds up well and easily. My complaint is about the legs--the way they mate is with a chintzy, square plastic piece that allows the lower leg to fall out of the upper, and is very easy to lose. An extra few cents per part would have resulted in a 4-star review.

    1.0 Is there a smaller version for a two door Jeep?

    Can some answer if there’s one of this awnings in smaller length that will fit in a two door Jeep Wrangler? There is no description of how much this thing weights either. Every once counts.

    5.0 Nice, reasonably priced awning

    This is my first vehicle awning, and I have to say I'm very happy with it, especially for how reasonable the price is. I attached it to my Rhino Rack, and it is a great companion to the rooftop tent. Setting it up is a breeze with two people, and was challenging for one person, at first, but once I figured out my "strategy" for getting the legs and poles out in the right order, I can easily set it up alone. I guess this is a keeper, so I'm going to get the mesh room next!

    5.0 Great item but no parts available to buy if broken

    I bought this awning in March 2022 and used it 2 times. The awning provides awesome shade and was easy to setup and tear down. The second time, there was massive wind and it blew the awning legs upward while I was trying to set it up. It bent the aluminum backbone arms and bent the bracket (really strong winds). I was able to bend it back some and tie it down with the tie downs. Once tied down, it was super strong. I called Smittybuilt to try and purchase new arms and brackets since the wind broke it and unfortunately they do not sell spare parts for it. So if the bracket gets broken or something breaks (not the fault of the item) you cannot buy spare parts for it. It does come with a one year warranty and Smittybuilt is sending me a brand new awning as a replacement so that was awesome but wished they sold the parts separately in case of breakage that is not the fault of the manufacturer. Smittybuilt did provide me with excellent customer services and a great warranty.

    Box damaged in shipping, awning was bent. Missing hardware. Didn't affect functionality. Overall happy with product and functions as it should.

    Q: Is this a free standing awning? Answer this question

    A: I’ve used it as freestanding when it’s a calm day and it’s been fine. It droops a little near the outside as it comes around the back since that’s where a lot of material is. I definitely recommend using the fold out poles that are in the arms to support it when set up for longer than a day or if there’s going to be some wind in the forecast.

    A: It attaches to you vehicle, but it can support itself without using the legs.

    Q: Are the pole attached or separate? Can it be used without the poles (assuming no wind)? What is the warranty on it? Answer this question

    A: Yes, I don’t put the polls down unless the wind gets really high, it is a really nice open space with them fold it up into the arms.

    A: The polls are attached to the arms and fold inside of them so you don’t have to store them separately. They are really cool because they telescope for uneven ground as well.

    A: Yes and no. It does come with a fairly large amount of mounting hardware that will work with about any roof rack. But there is always a chance that it might not cover your application.

    A: Yes!  However if you have a strange roof rack you may need to tweet the supplied brackets. I put mine on to Ford Transit Van with a ladder rack. I need to slightly bend a couple brackets but easy to do.

    Q: What is the maximum extended length of the legs? looking to mount it over the door to my van that is about 99" off the ground when the van is parked on a level surface. Will they be long enough? Answer this question

    A: Absolutely trash. Broke 1st time out and smitybilt doesn't have replacement parts to fix it. I wasted all that money for nothing! DONOT buy!

    A: It will fit the 6x6 awning but not the 6x8 awning.....you need the larger awning room for the 6x8 awning.
